1. What is 3+2 axis Multitasking CNC machining?
3+2 axis multitasking machining is the combination of having in a single machine, all the technologies together to be able to do any type of operation required in the part to be machined. The advantage it provides is that we can do multiple operations in the same setup, turning, drilling, milling, threading, inclined holes, 3d contouring, etc… with which, the time per finished part, optimizes the times by doing them in the same setup.
2. What advantages do U-cells provide?
It reduces machining times per part, dividing the operating times of the machine in operation, with the aim of dividing even into 3 operations, the batches of parts and in this productive way, balancing the times to optimize the bottleneck of the production of the batches to be manufactured.
3. What types of parts can be manufactured?
At Elursa, we can manufacture all types of 3+2 axis machined parts in both small and medium batches, both parts of revolution with their complexities, and milled parts with tolerances of +- 0.01mm and also holes from 0.3mm with lengths of 200mm.
4. How does it impact production costs?
Although the initial investment may be higher, it is offset by shorter cycle times, fewer tool changes and, consequently, a reduction in time per part.
5. What materials can be machined with this technology?
Steels, aluminum, titanium, technical plastics and special alloys can be worked. The versatility of the 3+2 axis guarantees high quality regardless of the material and with a maximum hardness of 68Hrc, in addition to powder metallurgy and high-strength aeronautical materials, also adding to materials, non-ferritic, polymers and etc…
